When a death occurs you may not know what to do. We are here to guide you and answer your questions. We than do all things necessary to arrange for the funeral pooja and cremation or ship the body back to India for cremation. We care for the deceased, obtain the legally required Cremation Permit, arrange for the crematory, transport the body, provide the casket (coffin), recommend or contract priests or pundits suitable to your culture and provide you with a hindu florist. In the case of shipping the deceased to India, we perform all necessary services and meet all the international and local legal requirements and arrange the flight time. Our knowledge allows us to ask you the questions that need to be answered. You do not have to know what to ask us.
Pradip (Peter) Kothari, Partner and President of THE HINDU FUNERAL HOME is a well known community leader and owner of Quick Travel. He recently fulfilled a dream by founding "India House", a 10,000 sq/ft community center. He is the organizer of the multi-state Navratri Dandya Raas Garba held annually at the Garden State Art and Exhibition Center. Pradip can provide interpreters for all languages of India if required.(we are required by NJ Law to use these words:Peter "is unlicensed and not qualified to make funeral arrangements, embalm or conduct funerals.")
I am Gregory (Greg)Young, Partner and Executive Director, NJ Lic. No. 3069. My family became funeral professionals in 1853. There are strict laws regulating cremation and burial in the U.S. I am the former Manager of Shanti Bhuvam Hindu Funeral Home, and served on the NJ State Bard of Mortuary Science which oversees the rules and regulations surrounding funerals. I authored a consumer's guide to the funeral which is in many public libraries, and I was a consultant to "20/20" the ABC Network program about how NOT to be taken advantage of when purchasing a funeral. Pradip and I are dedicated to preserving, with respect and lowest possible cost, the great Hindu traditions surrounding death. I personally provide all services to families assuring the best service at low cost.
Dawn Elliott is a licensed funeral director and specializes in the preparation of women and children. Christopher Young is a registered intern and is the 6th. generation to serve the needs of those suffering a loss.
You need to know these facts:
1. In NJ and NY crematories are not located in funeral homes. Funeral homes are licensed to provide all services for the dead but the actual act of cremation. We contract the crematory for you. Crematories are licensed to provide the cremation chambers, not do what the funeral professional does.
2. The law is,a body may not be cremated for 24 hrs. after death.
3. International, federal and state laws vary for body transport. We understand and comply. We are a U.S.Homeland Secujrity, Transportation Security Administration, Certified Cargo Screening Facility.
